When I first created this blog I intended to write about my minimalist lifestyle, the highs and lows of being a freelance writer, and the places I go and things I do on my travels. I’ve written a lot about the places I’ve been, and mentioned writing occasionally. But the number of blog posts about minimalism has been . . . minimal. So far I’ve only written one.
I wrote my one and only blog post about minimalism nearly 14 months ago. I was living in Wezep at the time and trying to decide whether I should keep my tent. It was a big decision. On the one hand, it was adding more weight to my backpack and making it difficult to manoeuvre through turnstiles at train stations. On the other hand, I’ve had it a long time, it’s a good tent and it’s got sentimental value. I decided to keep it in the end.
A little over a month ago I was contacted by Fabian, one of the editors of Elementarist. It’s a new online magazine about the minimalist lifestyle. It features articles about ideas, technology, and anything else that exhibits the “beauty and diversity of minimalism”. It’s written by minimalists for minimalists, and for anyone else who is interested in learning more about this liberating way of life.
Elementarist also publishes stories about people who are living life the minimalist way. Fabian had seen my one and only blog post about minimalism and enjoyed reading it. He asked me if I would write an article for Elementarist. Possibly something about my minimalist journey or the ways minimalism has made my life simpler. I was happy to oblige and really enjoyed writing the article. I chose to write about my minimalist journey. If you want to read about my journey just CLICK HERE. If you follow the link and read the article I hope you enjoy it. I also hope you check out the other articles on the site. Minimalism is not for everyone, but you never know. Perhaps somewhere deep inside you a penny will drop and cause you to start seeing “things” in a different light.
UPDATE: When I tried to visit the Elementarist web site a year later it was no longer there, so I republished my article on this blog. If you want to find out what happened to Elementarist and read my article you can do so HERE.
